Liz West Colour Rush
Colour Rush stands as a bold and vibrant light beacon that showcases intricate colour relationships, juxtapositions, and patterns. This new artwork aims to draw visitors in for closer inspection and interaction by radiating colourful patterns and vibrant hues in its vicinity. This spatial drawing began with a recent ink study as its foundation and colour palette.
Two large system-based striped drawings were skilfully created, then cut, mixed, repositioned, and folded into eight individual stripes. These luminous stripes form the basis of this octagonal lightbox. The vibrant lightbox is elevated on a mirrored plinth that reflects and multiplies the striped colour-ways.
Like a kaleidoscope, this playful piece demands exploration, urging visitors to view their reflections merging with the artwork. The convergence of colours acts as a physical and metaphorical meeting point for people.
