Wigan Borough Icon Animation

Halima Abida, UK

Celebrating the heart of Wigan, this stop motion animation brings the town’s icons to life through the eyes of its youngest residents. It features children’s drawings of their Wigan heroes, from family and friends to teachers, footballers, rugby stars and musicians. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Mesnes Park with its well-loved fountain and pavilion, the film blends creativity and local identity in a joyful tribute. It reflects the people, the stories and the places that make Wigan such a special community.

A little shoutout to Isadora from Our Lady’s Primary School, for the idea for the video.

BIO

Tangible mediums is where Halima’s art lies. Bearing in mind not to be wasteful, her work consists of many miscellaneous objects she has no use for but refuses to throw away. Aside from the texture being her one true love, she has always tried to portray a story or deeper meaning within her work. Sometimes more clearer than others but overall inspiring her to study Animation. Not forgetting contemporary art being her guiding light through these dark and uncertain times.
